Avout the Center

The Philharmonic Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization established under the laws of the state of Florida. Our mission is to enlighten, educate and entertain people of all ages and backgrounds in Southwest Florida by presenting the very best of the visual and performing arts.

The Philharmonic Center opened 95-percent debt free in 1989 and has grown in net worth each season since, thanks to the generous support of the community.

The Phil is unique among arts centers in that it features both the performing and visual arts in a single complex and also hosts a resident orchestra. In addition to the 1,475-seat main hall and a 282-seat black box theater, the Phil has four museum-quality art galleries, which showcase traveling and exclusive exhibitions. Each season, the Phil is host to more than 400 individual events. Although the heaviest season is between October and April, the Center hosts events year-round, including summer children's presentations. The Center also provides programs for groups and schools.

The Phil has 445 full- and part-time employees, including a full-time administrative staff of 80, as well as several hundred volunteers. Our board of directors comes from a variety of business and professional backgrounds.

Both the main theater and the Daniels Pavilion at the Philharmonic Center may be rented by groups, schedule permitting.

Kathleen van Bergen A Message from our CEO and President

Dear Friends,

I am so excited to share plans for our 25th anniversary season and our platform for the future with you. Last month, we made two important announcements.

The Philharmonic Center for the Arts will now be known as Artis—Naples. Extensive research and patron interviews conducted over this past year show very clearly that we have outgrown our old name.

The Center was originally built to support the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, but has grown to include so much more, in particular the Museum, extensive education programs, and many presentations including Broadway and headliner artists.

The new name Artis—Naples, which literally translates to the collective of the arts in Naples, and accompanying brand positioning allows us to celebrate all of our programmatic offerings.

Our second announcement truly establishes a new era for the Naples Philharmonic with the appointment of internationally renowned conductor Andrey Boreyko as our Music Director. I've had the pleasure of working with Andrey on numerous occasions over the last decade, and was delighted when he conducted our orchestra last December. His time with the orchestra was magical, both on-stage and off, and it is an absolute pleasure to have his artistry leading the Naples Philharmonic as we launch both our 25th anniversary season and our platform for the future.

Your patronage makes our work possible, and I am truly grateful to each of you for your support.

Warm wishes,

Kathleen van Bergen
CEO and President
