Philharmonic Youth Symphonia

Gregg Anderson, conductor

Founded in 2005, the Philharmonic Youth Symphonia (PYS) is a preparatory ensemble of the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.  The PYS is conducted by Naples Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Gregg Anderson.

Now entering its sixth season, the PYS has grown to 40 young musicians ages 9 and older.  The PYS program includes a complete string ensemble with optional chamber music training, coaching and master classes, a preparatory ensemble for less-advanced students and the summer Philharmonic Youth Chamber Festival (which was held June 21-25, 2010.)

The PYS rehearses Saturday mornings from September through May in the Toni Stabile Building at the Philharmonic Center complex. Rehearsal times are 10:30-noon. Optional chamber music rehearsals and master classes are held from 9-10:25 a.m.

The PYS performs in the Daniels Pavilion at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts and in other venues in the Naples area.  Music Director/Conductor Gregg Anderson programs wide-ranging repertoire that includes classical, romantic, pops and contemporary music.
